October, already?? I can't believe it's almost OCTOBER!! Thank goodness I can report that we have been busy, busy!! We're already on Unit 3 "Multiplication and Division: Number Sentences & Algebra" in Everyday Math ... and are quickly bringing our first Science unit (Organisms and their Environments) to a close.
I'd like to share with everyone another AWESOME 4th grade website that I ran across. This particular site is broken down into each 4th grade Everyday Math unit; and each unit has some GREAT websites listed for children to practice the skills learned in that unit!! I hope to eventually find time to allow students to access these sites in the classroom while I work with small groups.
In science, we've been observing our class "pets" ... frogs, Fiddler Crabs, and our newest additions ... millipedes! We're learning about their different characteristics and patterns of behavior which allow them to survive in their own distinct environments. Please see the science standards (link is on the right column of this blog) to see exaclty what the students will be expected to know on the Unit Test as well as the PASS test at the end of the year.
In Math, we've also been working hard to pass all of our timed multiplication timed tests (0-12). Congratulations to Sayvon and Eirami who have both passed each timed test (1-12) and will receive the full amount of "Ice Cream Sundae" privilages in a few weeks! I'm so very proud of all my students for studying their facts, memorizing them, and "giving their all" on these daily 5-minute timed test. Like I tell the kids, having these facts memorized will greatly help them when we begin division very soon!
Keep checking back for more news from our classroom. Feel free to comment ... we love comments! :)
